Notes from the Director
Heart of Iowa had a busy, summer with performing at local church services singing "In This Very Room" arranged by Kay Brommert. This is a piece we commisioned in memory of Judy Zeisneiss, a former member of Heart of Iowa Chorus. We had two fund raisers with our steak sales and bussing at the Pizza Ranch.
Coaching with Diane Huber, Master Director of the River Blenders, took place this month. She helped us work chiefly on unit sound.
Christmas music is being reviewed in preparation for the holidays when we will be singing at the State Center's "Old Fashioned Christmas on Main". We will also be performing for residents of the Glenwood Place and bell ringing for the Salvation Army at the Marshalltown Mall.
We are working on a new ballad for competition and and are polishing several uptunes and will decide which one to take. Chorus members are still wearing our 3rd place medals from last year's competition to practices and sing-outs.
The year will end with our Christmas party on at Mama De Grado's on December 12th.
We will have November practices at Fisher Community Center and then begin the new year at Whitehill Auditorium at the Iowa Veteran's Home. I hope to see everyone at each rehearsal and event, and of course - new members are ALWAYS welcome!
